Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is an established evidence-based rehabilitation method. It allows an individual to achieve normal movement patterns, before they would be able to on land.

When the body is immersed up to chest level up to 80% of body weight is taken by the water, facilitating an early return to weight bearing and pain free exercise.

Aquatic therapy is under the supervision of one of our experienced physiotherapists and is suitable for many conditions including: post-operative orthopaedic conditions, rehabilitation from musculoskeletal injuries, back pain, multiple joint pain, chronic regional pain syndrome and many more. A great feature of aquatic therapy is that once you become familiar with the exercises you can perform them in your local pool to compliment the treatment sessions.

We have use of the hydrotherapy pool at Sussex County Cricket Club which boasts a water treadmill and turbo trainer to swim/run/exercise against.

You will need a 1-to-1 assessment at Radius before starting hydrotherapy. This is to make sure you are suitable and safe for the pool and also to provide you with some home exercises which are key to your rehabilitation programme.

We have a raised pool and so you need to be able to get up and down stairs safely.

The sessions are 30 minutes, there are shower and changing facilities. Please bring a swimming costume and towel.
